The undisputed king of electric
blues is scheduled to play to a
packed audience Friday night at
Centennial Hall.

BB King is one of the most well-
known living blues musicians in
the world, and certainly the most
famous person to ever come out
of the tiny town of Itta Bena,
Miss.

The 2000 census pegged Itta
Bena's population at about 4,000
residents living within a 1.5
square mile area.

Yet the town still managed to
make it into the 2000 Coen
brothers film, "O Brother, Where
Art Thou?"

In the movie, a notorious
gangster terrorizing the the
Deep South stops George
Clooney's character Everett and
his crew and asks them how to
get to Itta Bena.

Name the gangster and the
actor who played him for a
chance to win a set of three
cookbooks.

Your ride guide

Go with the two-wheel flow Saturday as 9,000 racers and thousands of spectators converge for El Tour

Cyclists snake their way through our city this time every year, a cacophony of pedals spinning, gears shifting and heavy breathing. The blur of neon jerseys pulses in and around the Old Pueblo like blood through veins.

Tucson's signature participatory sporting event - the second largest in the state - pumps money and mojo into Southern Arizona.

The 27th annual UMC El Tour de Tucson, presented by Diamond Ventures, is Saturday.

Worley takes life, career at face value

You have to wonder if Darryl Worley wasn't giving himself a little up-by-the-bootstraps talking-to on his latest Top 10 hit:

"Sounds like life to me / It ain't no fantasy / It's just a common case of everyday reality / Man, I know it's tough / But you gotta suck it up / To hear you talk you're caught up in some tragedy / It sounds like life to me."

Bullock blindsides us

Her best performance in years

Sandra Bullock retrieves much of the career momentum that "The Proposal" gave her and that "All About Steve" threatened to kill with "The Blind Side," a surprisingly smart and moving drama about a Memphis steel magnolia who doesn't truly bloom until she takes in a homeless teen and gives him a life.

Bullock gives her best performance in years in this John Lee Hancock ("The Rookie") film that's about compassion, empathy, family and that old-time Southern religion - football.
