On Monday, Harkins Theatres announced plans for a “new family entertainment concept” that will open at the Shops at Norterra.

In addition to movies, Harkins BackLot (inspired by movie backlots) will include “a full-service restaurant and bar, Arizona’s largest sports viewing screens, expansive arcade for all ages, bowling and spacious private event spaces with party and corporate event rooms,” according to a release from Harkins.

Harkins BackLot will also include a sports-viewing arena with laser-projected screens, Brunswick bowling lanes, an outdoor patio and immersive virtual-reality experiences.

A restaurant with a “chef-inspired menu” will include burgers, flatbreads, sandwiches and desserts. The bar, restaurant and sports arena will serve cocktails, beer and wine.
